This is a regatta for the classics!

It will be a weekend full of sailing and socialising!

Dinghy Regatta Information

Our definition for a classic dinghy is that the class must have started with timber construction for it's boats. We prefer boats that enter be made mainly from timber. E.g. Timber versions of NS14's or herons. Just enquire if you are unsure.

This weekend will also include entry for Scow and Lowrider Moths into the third year of the "Pittwater Scow and Lowrider Moth Regatta"!

Entry fees are $70 for dinghies and $140 for yachts. This will include:

  • Entry to the sailing events.
  • Free nibblies! Dinner and drinks at own cost. We were going to provide food but after consideration by ASC and BYRA it has been decided that this is unviable. It will still be a cheap night out with your friends!
  • An event T-shirt for dinghies.

Planning is progressing well. Updates will be sent by email once you have registered.

Sailing

Avalon Saing Club is managing the on-water events with BYRA assisting. Thanks to both clubs!

Sailing Instructions available soon.

Saturday

  • Formal course racing for dinghies. Three races for Dinghies. Starting from 1300.
  • There will be separate starts for the Pittwater Scow and Lowrider Moth Regatta. A three-race series.
Great news for the dinghies is that it is a course with two triangles for reaching fun! Triangle-Hotdog-Triangle. The start/finish line is halfway along the windward leg so there is a windward finish.

Sunday

Dinghies - Mini-Marathon around Scotland Island, including the Woody Point permanent mark. Start and finish at the beach at BYRA. Start at 1100 back by 1400.

Social

  • Possible welcome event at Avalon Sailing club on Friday evening.
  • Saturday evening event on the deck at BYRA. NOW TO BE AT AVALON
    • Free Nibblies from 5pm
    • Drinks and BBQ meat and salads available for purchase from 6pm.
  • Results and prize giving from 7pm.
  • Sunday morning breakfast at BYRA.
  • BBQ on deck and drinks at ASC on Sunday afternoon. Water pickup and drop off from BYRA to ASC will be available.

Useful Information

  • Riddle Reserve next to the BYRA clubhouse is available for the dinghies to rig and stay over Saturday night. The tides are great with high tides around the middle of the day!
  • BYRA clubhouse is available for sailors to bunk in on Saturday night after the social event. Which is planned to be finished by 2200 at the latest.
  • There is also plenty of AirBnB accommodation in the area.
  • NOR is here. NOR for Regatta
