Welcome to BYRA
Join the BYRA family
Whether you want to learn how to sail, are a seasoned racer, want to paddle in company, would love to get the whole family out on the water, or just want a social outlet with a friendly bunch of people, we have something for everyone at BYRA.
As a valued member of BYRA, you can enjoy many fantastic benefits, including access to our beautiful clubhouse. A key benefit for members who own boats, kayaks, SUPS or surf skis is eligibility to store them in our boatshed.
If you are considering getting into sailing, why not visit us on a Sunday morning to see the different types of boats we sail up close – our members are always keen to answer questions and show you the ropes.
You can even arrange to go out on a patrol boat or the committee boat to watch the sailing school or racing up close.
Our membership offers access to our wonderful club facilities
Once a member, you can:
- Enjoy a BBQ on our deck with family/friends - the view doesn't get any better than from the BYRA deck!

SailPass covers participants under the Australian Sailing Personal Accident Insurance policy for the day/s that the SailPass applies.
How to register as a member
Important things to be aware of:
If you are registering for the first time, you will receive an email with your Australian Sailing Number. Always keep a record of this, as theoretically, you can keep the same number for life.
You must use your existing Australian Sailing number. If you have been a member of our club (or any club) across Australia in the past few years, your details (including your Australian Sailing Number) should be in our system. If you don't know your Australian Sailing Number, you can look it up here: AS Number Finder.
If you are returning as a SailPass holder, please use your existing Australian Sailing Number as a returning member.
If you are registering as a Family, you must register each of your family members individually. As follows:
- Step 1: Register the primary sailor of your family as the Sailing Family Member
