Pittwater Sailors Group

BYRA was founded on yacht racing - read about our rich history here!  
We are now uniquely placed to provide regular, organised Yacht racing in conjunction with the "Pittwater Sailors Group". Races are held on the first available Sunday of each month, all year round, with a 15-20 boat fleet. 

* BYRA members with their own yacht can join the Pittwater Sailors fleet. 
* For BYRA members who wish to experience yacht racing on different types of boats, you can join in the racing on yachts with Pittwater Sailors.
* Pittwater Sailors are welcome to join in our annual Lion Island Race.

The Pittwater Sailors group also hold a BBQ at the PAC club after each race, to which BYRA members are most welcome.

Annual race fee: for PAC Members $70 and Non-Pac Members $90

Entrants are required to also register via the BYRA website (bottom of the front page) at no cost if you have an active A.S. number.

It is a requirement that each skipper maintains a record on board of those on board prior to the race start. See attachment above.

More details here: First Race of the Pittwater Sailors 26/27 season is in Sunday 13^thSeptember. Please forward entrants by email tokimrussel44@bigpond.com.au. ASAP for time to allocate to either the Yellow or Blue divisions and set a start handicap for your boat.

BYRA also has a penchant for all traditional craft – timber boats in particular - and these vessels are openly encouraged to participate.

Annual Lion Island Challenge Trophy 

The main yachting event of each season is the commemorative Lion Island Challenge Trophy.

This is held as close to BYRA's founding date of the 27th of November as feasible and remembers the founders of the club who raced round Lion Island in 1949.

The Start is always at noon on the waters in front of the clubhouse, with a briefing at 11 a.m. at the clubhouse.

Guest /visitor boats are welcome to participate.
