Those older members or former members of BYRA may remember Alan Nimmo.
Alan Nimmo was a former member, committee member and commodore of BYRA. Alan is the son-in-law of Richard Overy, who is understood to be a founding member of the club.
Alan was involved with the club for more than 20 years. In the early years, he built, raced and developed VJs, then Herons and NS14s. He then gave up the thrill of racing to concentrate on running the club.
After retiring from his stewardship of the club, Alan was involved with Sailability and oversaw the Sydney 2000 Paralympic trials on Sydney Harbour.
Alan sadly passed away over the Christmas period.
BYRA sends condolences to the family and friends of Alan.
